MENDOTA – Everyone needs to be cautious whenever they receive an unsolicited phone call, and Mendota police warn that even on the weekends scammers will try to find their next victim. They reported on Saturday morning that they already received complaints of a person claiming to be from the Social Security Administration and wanting personal information. Authorities remind everyone to not give out personal information over the phone and to hang up on any suspicious callers immediately. Scammers can use details you share with them to compromise your identity, ruin your credit, or access your bank accounts. The police say the best thing to do is not answer unknown numbers.
