OTTAWA – A man accused of a number of smash and grab burglaries around downtown Mendota has had his bond set at $100,000. The Mendota Police Department say 54-year-old Craig J. Hynes allegedly broke windows of multiple businesses over the last few weeks and took various items. He is currently charged with two counts of burglary after an incident Thursday morning on Jefferson Street and on Main Street in Mendota. Seven different businesses in Mendota were boarded up Friday morning awaiting repairs from having glass damaged by rocks or other heavy objects.
