PERU- DBSA Support Group
The DBSA (Depression, Bi-Polar, Anxiety, Association) of the Illinois Valley support group meets every first and third Monday of the month on the forth floor in conference room C at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.  If you suffer from these mental disorders we encourage you to attend and you may even bring a friend and or family member with you.  Anything you talk about will be kept in strict confidence.  It is a place to come and share your experiences and ways of comping without being judged. LASALLE COUNTY - Medicare Beneficiaries
Attention Medicare Beneficiaries! You may qualify for money saving benefits through the Low Income Subsidy and Medicare Savings Programs. Both Programs have income and asset guidelines. PRINCETON- Diabetes Meeting Offered Monthly
Perry Memorial Hospital wants to provide information and support to those who are dealing with diabetes. Each month, on the 2nd Tuesday, Perry has an informational meeting to provide up-to-date guidelines and realistic ways to manage the diagnosis of diabetes. There will also be time at each meeting for open discussion and sharing of ideas. Please contact at (815) 876-4449 to register for this meeting.


STREATOR - Super spooky haunted house
The Streator High School National Honor Society will hold its annual Super Spooky Haunted House from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. All ages are welcome. Admission will be $3 for people without a costume and $2 for those with. People should enter the door facing Bloominton Street on the corner of Bloomington and Morrell streets.


MENDOTA - Trick-or-treat
Children in costume are invited to Trick-or-Treat Mendota businesses and shops from 3 until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Parents are reminded to have their children look for the orange poster with a picture of "bats" on the door for those businesses participating. The signs say "Trick-or-Treat Here Friday, Oct. 31, from 3 until 5 p.m."

VARNA - All You Can Eat Soup and Sandwich Supper
St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 80 Chestnut St., will hold an 'All You Can Eat' ,soup and sandwich supper with dessert too on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 4-7 p.m.


TONICA - Pancake, Sausage & Egg Breakfast
St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at Leonore will hold a Pancake, Sausage and Egg breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 8 a.m.- noon. Adults are $7, children (5-7) $2, chikdren 4 and under are free. There will also be a bake sale and 50/50 drawing. 


UTICA - Utica Veterans Parade/Air Show
The 8th annual Utica Veterans Parade/Air Show, sponsored by the Utica American Legion Pierce Davis Poast #731, will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, in downtown Utica. The show will feature the 144th Army Band, Lima Lima Air Show, TBM WWII Torpedo Bomber, military vehicles and displays, veteran groups and color guards, Chicago Police Bagpipes & Drums of the Emerald Society and more.


ARLINGTON - St. Patrick Annual Smorgasbord & Bake Sale
St. Patrick Annual Smorgasbord & Bake Sale
 
sponsored by St. Patrick Church Altar & Rosary Society, Arlington, is Sunday, Nov. 2. Serving is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bishop Franz Hall. The menu is turkey/dressing or ham, mashed potatoes/gravy, vegetables, salads, dessert and beverage. Adults are $8.00; children under 12 $3.00; and children under 5 are free. Dinner tickets and raffle tickets purchased at the door. Carry-outs are available. There is a raffle drawing at 1 p.m. for a home-made quilt. Also a door prize will be given.

SPRING VALLEY- St. Margaret's Offers Free Prenatal Classes
St. Margaret's Prenatal/Lamaze classes for expectant mothers, called "1-2-3-4 What to Expect From Labor/Delivery and more," will begin Monday, Nov. 3 from 6:30-9 p.m. in the first floor presentation room at St. Margaret's Hospital. Participants are asked to bring a blanket, two pillows and a labor coach (support person). Expectant fathers are welcome and encouraged to attend. There is no charge for the classes. PERU - Possibilities/DBSA Meets 
Possibilities/DBSA, the local depression and bipolar support group, will meet twice in November.

SPRING VALLEY - St. Margaret's Auxiliary Bake Sale & Rada Cutlery Sale
St. Margaret's Hospital Auxiliary will host a bake sale and Rada Cutlery Sale on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital's lower lobby. A variety of homemade baked goods will be available. Rada Cutlery is made in the U.S.A. and offers great prices, gift sets and individual items. SPRING VALLEY - St. Margaret's offers Health Care Provider CPR Course
St. Margaret's will host a "Health Care Provider CPR" course on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 6 - 10 p.m. This class is for any health care provider, including: lifeguards, firefighters and health care workers. The class cost is $30, which includes the instructional book and is conducted by American Heart Association instructors. It will be held in the hospital's First Floor Presentation Room. SPRING VALLEY - Visions Support Group Schedules  Meeting
"Visions," a support group for anyone with any type of visual problems, will meet from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov.  6, in St. Margaret's First Floor Presentation Room.  "Visions" meets regularly on the first and third Thursday of each month from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. For more information, call (815) 664-1140.


OTTAWA - Heritage Christian Center 10th Anniversary
In celebration of Heritage Christian Center's 10th anniversary, Donnie Swaggart will be there at  900 Hitt St. Rt 71 in Ottawa, IL on the following dates:  Friday Nov. 7 at 7 p.m., Saturday Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. and Sunday Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. Also, Heritage Christian Center ,632 Groveland St. Creve Coeur, IL, on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m.


GRANVILLE - Pancake & Sausage Breakfast
Pancakes and home made sausage will be served at the Sacred Heart Church Hall in Granvilleon Sunday, Nov. 9 from 7 a.m. - noon. Carry-outs are also available. Donations are for Adults $7, and Children $4. The Holy Name sponsors this annual breakfast and uses the profits for Church and community purposes. Sausage will also be at the Sacred Heart Church Hall in Granville after 2 p.m.  on Thursday, Nov. 6. MENDOTA - Cotton Patch Gospel coming to Mendota
Zion United Methodist Church in Mendota will host the off-Broadway musical, "The Cotton Patch Gospel" at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. There is no charge for admission. Instead, a freewill offering will be taken with 100 percent of the offering going directly to the Mentoda Area Christian Food Pantry, MCC and Why Hunger. The story, based on the book of Matthew, imagines what it would be like if Jesus was born in Gainesville, GA in the 20th Century and raised by Mary Hagler and Joe Davidson. This one-man musical is presented by Illinois native, Phillip Kaufmann. Call 538-2186 for more information.


LAMOILLE - LaMoille Lions Veterans' Breakfast
The LaMoille Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, at the club on Howard Street in LaMoille. All veterans eat free. The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, ham, toast, milk, juice and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for kids 5 to 10 and kids under 5 are free.


PERU - Next IVCH Transplant Support Group Meeting 
The next meeting of the Live Life pre- and post-transplant support group will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the meeting room of Illinois Valley Community Hospital’s 6th Street office building (formerly St. Mary’s School), which is located just east of the hospital in Peru. Live Life is an IVCH support group for Illinois Valley residents who have had transplant surgery or who are on waiting lists for transplants.  The group meets on the second Monday of each month.


PERU - Grief Recovery Group 
The Illinois Valley Community Hospital Grief Recovery Group will next meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, and Wednesday, Nov. 26, in Conference Room “C” on the fourth floor of IVCH. The group allows persons who have recently suffered the loss of someone close to them to share their feelings and experiences with others who have also lost loved ones through death.The group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.  For more information, call Deacon Ray Fischer, IVCH pastoral care coordinator, at (815) 780-3426.


MENDOTA - The Twentieth Annual Carry-Out Chicken Dinner
The Mendota High School Music Department Presents The Twentieth Annual Carry-Out Chicken Dinner Friday, Nov. 14. Prices are $8.00 per dinner and $5.00 for an extra quarter. Dinner includes 1/4 fried chicken (cooked by the Optimist Club), baked potato, cole slaw, and a dinner roll. Tickets are available from any Mendota High School band or choir student. Free delivery is available for senior citizens who reside within the city limits. The order deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 28. New this year! Orders are to be picked up at the Mendota Lion's Club Den at the Mendota Fairgrounds from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m.



SENICA - 21st Annual Fall Festival of Wines
There will be over 100 Wines from Around the World Friday, Nov. 7 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Senica's Oak Ridge. One hundred percent of the ticket proceeds benefit the LaSalle and Peru Fire Departments. Advanced Donation $20. This festival is sponsored by Rudy's Liquors.


SANDWICH - 35th Annual Christmas in the Country
The 35th Annual Christmas in the Country Arts and Crafts Show will be Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m- 4p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Sandwich High School, Sandwich Middle School and Lynn Haskins Grade School. Lunch will be served, there will be door prizes and 150 crafters. There is a $3 admission to benefit the Sandwich School Music Association and there will be a shuttle bus service between schools. There is no stollers allowed.


PRINCETON - Health Screening Offered
Perry Memorial Hospital is offering a Health Screening on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 6:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the White Oak Classroom. A Lipid Profile test, which includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides will be offered at $25. The following other tests will also be offered: Chemistry Profile for $31, Thyroid-TSH for $23, and Hemogram for $9. All tests except the Hemogram and Thyroid-TSH require a 12 hour fasting. Pre-registration is required. Please bring physician’s name and address to the screening. Tests cannot be completed without this information. Juice and coffee will be available. SHABBONNA - 121st Annual Turkey Supper
The United Church of Christ Annual Turkey Dinner & Bazaar is the Thursday before Thanksgiving, dine-in and carry out from 4:30-7 p.m.

STREATOR - Chili Stag - Stagette
Fallen Heroes Club and Swarm Veterans Club will hold the Chili Stag-Stagette at Elk's Lodge, 202 N. Park St., on Nov. 15 from 6-11 p.m. A $5.00 donation per person is requested and there will be fun, food, music and games. All funds support veterans and veteran organizations/events. 

LASALLE - Free ITAC Amplified Phones
Free amplified phones are available through the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation program (ITAC). Qualified individuals must be legal residents of Illinois, have a doctor’s or audiologist’s signature verifying hearing loss, and have standard phone service in the residence. There are no age or income restrictions. An Open House is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 24 from 9- 3:30 p.m. Call now to schedule an appointment or request an application. When you call IVCIL request that an application be sent to you and also schedule your appointment. Please bring your application and copies of the required paperwork. Please note you can come any day to see us about receiving a phone.To get your application for a free phone, call the Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living or (IVCIL) at (815) 224-3126. LOCKPORT - 44th Annual Old Canal Days Festival
The 44th annual Old Canal Days Festival, including the annual Arts & Crafts Show will be held on Saturday & Sunday, June 20 & 21, 2015. The juried arts & crafts  is on Saturday the 20th 10-5 p.m. and Sunday the 21st 10-4 p.m. Booth fees are $100 for standard and $120 for a corner. However, there is an "early bird discount" of $20 per booth if applications are received by Monday, Jan. 5, 2015.
