PERU - Peru Library Daycation Bus trips
Ever wanted to your the Deere mansion? Experinece the first electrified Illinois farm? See Steampunk invade a Renaissance Faire? Then the Peru library's new Daycation bus trips are for you.  As part of its expanded adult programming, five trips have been scheduled between April and August.  Participants will visit the Figge Museum, stroll among quilts, see farming museums, do a yarn crawl and more.  Contact Peru public Library for more information on the individual trips and fees, 815 223-0229

PERU - DBSA Support Group

PRINCETON- Diabetes Meeting Offered Monthly
Perry Memorial Hospital wants to provide information and support to those who are dealing with diabetes. Each month, on the 2nd Tuesday, Perry has an informational meeting to provide up-to-date guidelines and realistic ways to manage the diagnosis of diabetes. PERU - Spring Preschool T-ball Program.
The Illinois Valley YMCA will be conducting a Spring Preschool T-ball Program.  The goal of the program is for our experience program staff to teach basic t-ball skills building in a game setting.  The program is for preschool aged children, 3-5 years old.  It will be every Saturday from April 4th to May 9th, 10-11:30 a.m. It costs $25 for YMCA members and $35 for nonmembers.  Participants will get a t-shirt.  For more information contact Casy Loving, Youth Program Director at the IV YMCA at 815 223 7904 ext. 32.

PERU - Author speaks about DeGroot Family Stories
On Thursday, April 23rd, Lois DeGroot Beattie-Blackwell will talk about her boo DeGroot Family Stories covering Peru from 1881 to 2001.  DeGroot Family Stories is a collection of memories from her dad (Paul DeGroot) about Peru, Water Street, river rescues, body recories, tavenrs, fishing and other familymemories.  Plan to attend to hear Lois and remember the peru of abygone time.  The program begins at 6:30p.m. Lois will also sign copies of her book.

Donor Eligibility Criteria: Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through and weigh more than 110 pounds. Donors who last gave blood on or before 3/4/15 are eligible to give at this drive.
About Blood Donation: Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.  Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors.

LASALLE - Free Community Concert.
A free community concert which will be held here at Grace United Methodist 
Church, 1345 Chartres Street, La Salle, IL on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. (A goodwill offering will be taken.) The concert is by BLEND, the a cappella quartet that brings back all of those fun loving memories of the 50’s and 60’s with a twist of fun.  BLEND is the a cappella group that mixes the great music of yesteryear with today’s comedy.  BLEND is a show that you will not want to miss! Light refreshments will be served following the concert.

MENDOTA - Cinco De Mayo Festival
The Illinois Valley Hispanic Partnership Council celebrates its 17th Annual Cinco De Mayo Festival at the Mendota High School, on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. to celebrate cultural awareness.  Please attend this free event and enjoy authentic Mexican food, folkloric dancers, raffles, information booths, queen, mini king & mini queen contests, and entertainment for all.  Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the Mexican army over the French during the Battle of Puebla in 1862. To this day, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in several U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population including the Illinois Valley.

The 44th annual Old Canal Days Festival, including the annual Arts & Crafts Show will be held on Saturday & Sunday, June 20 & 21, 2015. The juried arts & crafts  is on Saturday the 20th 10-5 p.m. and Sunday the 21st 10-4 p.m. Booth fees are $100 for standard and $120 for a corner.
