UTICA - Hunger Blitz
The Utica Knights of Columbus will conduct a Hunger Blitz Project from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2. Members of the Knights will be at various supermarkets in the LaSalle-Peru area requesting people to buy and donate a non-perishable item from a food pantry list. Cash donations will also be accepted.
SPRING VALLEY - Lily's Belle of the Ball Boutique
A prom/graduation/homecoming/party dress sale will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Anthony Parish Hall in Spring Valley. All proceeds will benefit Lily Rosploch. The Reading Township Volunteer Fire Department is holding its 20th annual Firefest at the KC Club on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 6 until 11 p.m.
HOLLOWAYVILLE - Pancake and sausage brunch
The Hollowayville United Church of Christ will hold its 61st annual pancake and sausage brunch from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, at the church. The breakfast includes homemade pork sausage, pancakes, pie, French toast, applesauce, fruit and beverage. Adults are $8 and children 12 and under are $3.
MENDOTA - Wellness profile
Mendota Community Hospital's Wellness Profile will be from 6 until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the community health services department. Screening fee is $20 per person for cholesterol only. For an additional $5 per person, screening includes measurements for weight, body mass index, body fat and blood pressure. PERU - IVCH Diabetes Academy
The connection between sleep apnea and diabetes will be explored by Dr. Sarah Zallek when she speaks at the next meeting of the IVCH Diabetes Academy at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, in the meeting room of the IVCH 6th Street office building in Peru. Dr. Zallek will talk able how sleep loss can affect diabetes control. The IVCH Diabetes Academy is a free monthly education and support program for people who are dealing with diabetes. PERU - Cut-a-Thon
A Cut-A-Thon to benefit Marcus Zack will be held from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Hair Cuttery on Shooting Park Road in Peru. Cost is $10 per haircut. All proceeds from the cut-a-thon will benefit Zack, who has been accepted to attend the 2013 Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.

The Red Cross will host a series of bloodmobiles at Mendota Moose Lodge on the following dates: Feb. 12, April 9, June 4, July 30, Sept. 24 and Nov. 19.
STREATOR - Lenten Meditations
The Prairie Singers will present "Lenten Meditations" at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Streator. The performance will center on the seven last words of Christ and include anthems, hymns and readings. A free-will offering will be taken.
STREATOR - Vendor/craft fair
St. Michael Preschool in Streator is hosting a vendor/craft fair from 1 until 4 p.m. on Feb. 16, at the school, 410 S. Park St., Streator. Twenty-plus vendors will be there. Raffle baskets and 50/50 drawing will be on hand. Open to the public.
OTTAWA - Spaghetti dinner
Annie's Hide-A-Way will host a spaghetti dinner from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, to benefit the children of Easter Seals of LaSalle & Bureau Counties. AMBOY - Wine and cheese tasting gala
The Amboy Education Foundation is sponsoring the fourth annual Wine and Cheese Tasting Gala on Monday, March 18, at the Long Branch Saloon in Amboy. The event will be from 6 until 8 p.m. and tickets are $20 each. SPRING VALLEY - Fun run/walk
St. Margaret's 1st Annual 10K and 1-mile fun run/walk - Habit for Health Saturday, April 13. Race-day registration is from 7 unil 8:30 a.m. Race begins at 9 a.m. at 415 E. 2nd Street, Spring Valley. The race will benefit ongoing renovations and improvements to St. Margaret's Health facitilies. The cost is $30 for the 10k, $25 for the fun run/walk and $80 for a family four-pack fun run/walk. A vendor show to benefit the LaSalle County Relay for Life will be held from 6 until 10 p.m. on Friday, May 3, at the Streator VFW. A variety of vendors will be featured. Cash and carry or place an order. Each vendor will have a raffle item. The show is sponsored by DAS Mycogen Seeds Relay for Life team.
